President and COO
Mike has a track record of success in starting, growing and managing companies. He is a proven executive with a demonstrated ability to create value, grow revenue, raise capital, develop and execute strategic plans, identify new markets and position products / services in those markets.
He has been involved in the founding of four startup companies, either as CEO or as VP of Sales and Marketing. He has raised more than $40,000,000 in equity investments for those companies and engineered successful exits. He is a seasoned manager with experience in explosive growth environments, downturns, and changing markets.
Mike has participated in transactions as a buyer, a founder / seller, and an intermediary. He understands the concerns and motivations of founders and entrepreneurs as they evaluate potential financial partners and work through the transaction.
As a serial entrepreneur, Mike founded and helped grow to fruition:
Cable Healthcare - This company revolutionized hospital and healthcare delivery of information, education and entertainment. Mike was co-founder and Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
m3 The Health Care Learning Company - As Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Mike helped this software company quintuple revenue in 4 years; and engineered its sale in a cash and stock transaction with a public company.
Drugtest, Inc. - As founder and CEO, Mike combined a drug testing products company with a value added, data centric Third Party Administrator to become one of the largest workplace drug testing companies in the country.
Ascend Student Health Services - This company helped fundamentally change the way university health centers are managed, as well as dramatically changing their business model. As founder and CEO, Mike led the explosive growth and exit strategy.
The Dewey Foundation - After Ascend, Mike spent a few years devoting his time to the cause of defeating breast cancer, a disease which affected his wife and threatens his daughters. He established The Dewey Foundation and The Victory Project; and for the first time in IRS history, gained 501 (c) (3) approval for an innovative, awards based charity. (www.deweyfoundation.org). This work continues.
Now, as a founder and partner in Clearshot Capital Partners, he brings his many years as a builder of companies to our partner companies. His experience and expertise in revenue growth, explosive growth management, and focus on execution is a great resource for our partners. Mike works with management teams to identify and aggressively pursue significant growth opportunities and assists in the oversight of Sales and Marketing activities.
His intimate knowledge of the dynamic between growing companies and the investor community helps our relationships grow smoothly.
Mike, his wife Barbara, and their three children live in Austin, Texas.
